Hand-held laser welding machine welding head problem treatment: lens damage

Performance

① the light output was very strong, but gradually weakened, resulting in the inability to fuse
② There is a spark at the copper tip

Cause analysis
Under normal circumstances, the lens of the welding gun is damaged, including but not limited to the protective lens, focusing lens, collimating lens and reflector lens. Any damage to one or more of them may cause this situation to occur.
First, replace the protective lens and check the focus. Then, inspect the reflection and collimation. Just replace the damaged lens
The sparks at the copper tip might be a focal issue and should be ruled out first
Also, check whether the laser fiber head part is dirty or damaged

Analysis of lens damage

1. Classification of damage: Abnormal motor swing caused by interference, or the red light being too skewed without adjustment. Generally, the sealing ring will be burned out together
2. Damage to the convex surface of the platform lens: This is commonly seen in contamination. If no protection is provided during replacement, it will appear as black spots in the form of dots
3. Planar damage to the platform lens: Due to laser diffuse reflection, mostly caused by reflection, a focus is formed on the lens, burning the coating and presenting as white spots. The convex surface also has this shape, and the formation principle is the same
4. The damage to protective lenses is usually caused by slag shedding and contamination during replacement
5. Abnormal light output is caused by the Gaussian beam of the laser being too sharp. This is usually characterized by a sudden appearance of a white spot in the middle, with any lens centered.

Troubleshooting: Replace the damaged lens

How to avoid it subsequently

In handheld welding, the most frequently replaced part is related to the lenses. In response to the causes of damage, the following preventive measures should be taken
1. When using original factory lenses, customers who purchase them online often cannot guarantee the light transmittance.
2. Pay attention to preventing contamination when replacing.
3. Try not to weld vertically, especially when welding materials with high reflectivity.
4. Protective lens damage: Preventive measures ‍;
5‍. Replace damaged protective glasses in time;
6. Prevent interference and ensure effective grounding.
